Entry into gold coin Business
Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Group (ADAG), has capital services company ‘Reliance Money’. To expand its portfolio it has tied up with Switzerland’s precious metal refining company, ‘Welcombi.’ Reliance Money’ is private sector’s first non-banking company to step into this field. The director of Reliance Money, Sudip Bandopadhyaya launched nationally this new business initiative from Jaipur. The aim of this new service is to avail the customers all kinds of capital investment services. The investment in gold is safe and serves as hedging against inflation. India is world’s biggest gold consumer and there is no organised player in the market of gold coins. Considering all this Reliance of Anil has stepped into this field. The Swiss company Welcombi S.A. will make the coins and supply to Reliance Money. In India ‘Reliance World’ and ‘Reliance Money’ will sell the coins across the counter at their stores. The company was shaped in the year 2007.

Take Over of Yipes
Reliance Communications is the second largest mobile company of India. In 2007 it struck a take over deal to buy ethernet company ‘Yipes Holdings’ of U.S.A. in Rs. 1200 crores. It will add impetus to fibre network business of the Reliance. Yipes has got 22,000 kms of optic fibre network spread over 14 big cities of U.S.A. Reliance plans to expand it into 30 cities. Besides the countries of Asia, Europe and Mideast shall be linked with this network. Anil’s Reliance Communication has already 3.5 crore customers in India.
If the take over deal comes through Reliance Com. will become world’s leading communication set ups as ‘Yipes’ will bring in 5% ethernet business of the world.
Amongst the 3.5 crore customers of Reliance Communications the cousumers of Reliance Fixed Line are also included. The sister concern of Reliance the Flag Telecom is negotiating the ‘Yipes’ take over deal. Flag Telecom is a world class prominent international player in the field of Data Services Content Provider and serves in Internet Communities.
Wharton School of Management, (U.S.A.) has named one of its auditoriums after Dhirubhai Ambani. Anil earned his MBA degree from this institute. The school received a large donation from Anil Ambani on behalf of his group. The naming of Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium was announced on May 16, 2007.
