Danielle and her mother were returning home from the park, one evening. As Danielle was very hungry, she pestered her mother to buy her something. They soon passed by a banana vendor and Danielle’s mother bought her two bananas. When she had eaten the first banana, Danielle threw the peel on the road. Her mother was shocked and scolded her for doing so. “Never throw litter on the road,” she added. But Danielle hardly heard her. Then she ate the second banana and threw the peel again. Before Danielle’s mother could say anything to her, a horrible thing happened. A man was jogging on the sidewalk and slipped on the banana peel! Danielle’s mother rushed to him and helped the man to get up. She made Danielle apologise to the man and throw the peel into the dustbin. Danielle was very embarrassed and promised never to throw any litter on the road again. She even taught everyone at school about the bad habit of littering.
