Mr. Osburn Dorsey was the first one who invented the first door-stop in the year 1878. He was an African American inventor. After that there were many door-stop inventors who came with different variations and ideas. Door-mounted door-stops, rotating door stops, the customary wedge door-stop, electronic and magnetic door-stops and floor mounted door-stops are some of them.
Initially, a door-stop was made using a heavy solid object which includes rubber which is kept in the way of the door. Thereafter, inventors used lead bricks to make a door-stop. However, these door-stops could not do much after the revelation of the toxic nature of lead.
Later, little wedge of cotton, plastic, rubber, wood and other material were used to make a door-stop. It was made motionless.
Siblings Laura Sklar and Michael Sklar started a door-stop business and made quality and durable door-stops. They used innovative techniques while making these door-stops.
