Dorothy and the Tree Elf

Once, a little girl called Dorothy lived with her father. Dorothy’s father went to work every day and Dorothy stayed alone at home. One day, Dorothy’s father brought some colourful paper for her to make paper cuttings. The next day when Dorothy was alone she drew a cart and cut it out. She did not know the papers were magical. The cart started moving on its own! “Magic paper! Wow!” cried Dorothy. Then, Dorothy drew a tree and put it out in the garden. Soon, birds settled in its branches and an elf poked its head out from the trunk. Dorothy asked, “Where did you come from?” “I was living in the paper. You set me free,” replied the elf. Dorothy and the elf played till it was evening. When her father returned, Dorothy introduced him to her friend, the elf. That day onwards, the elf stayed with Dorothy when her father went to work.
