Dust/Sand Storm

Dust storm, also known as sand storm, is a strong and violent form of wind arising mostly during the summer season in dry regions of the Earth. The violent wind carries light-weight, dry and fine particles of clay, dust and other materials to long distances. The minimum speed of wind is about 14 km per hour. The lightest particles flow way above the ground (about 2,000 feet in altitude) and the heavy particles move near the ground. Sometimes, high intensity dust storm affects the local weather and creates unusual sunrise or sunset. Sand storms in Sahara Desert are so intense that they can move a huge sand-dune along.
