Try learning memory methods shorn of technical jargon and nomenclature charade. For example, go through the following text :
The founding father of Arya Samaj, Swami Dayanand Saraswati was born in Kathiawad in a Brahmin family in year 1824. His childhood name was Moolshankar. Though he had no knowledge of English language, he was a great scholar of Sanskrit. He studied Vedas and other Indian scriptures very thoroughly. He left home and renounced this world at a very tender age; all thanks to basic tenets of Arya Samaj which he would formulate in times to come.
Arya Samaj was founded by Swami Dayanand on 10th April 1875. He initiated this socio-religious revolution at a time when Hindu society was stuck in quagmire of pseudo-sectarianism. In the name of idol worship, corruption ruled roost in Hindu temples and society was torn asunder by caste and communal discrimination.
He (Swami Dayanand) criticised the practice of idol worship exhorting people to worship only that one God who is formless and all pervading. Swamiji laid emphasize on study of ‘Vedas’, which, according to him, were source of truth and eternal knowledge. No wonder, teaching and preaching of ‘Vedas’ is prime duty of all those who believe in Arya Samaj. A man, said Swami Dayanand, should for ever be ready to reject falsehood and embrace truth.
Swami Dayanand was a strong votary of women’s education, and worked relentlessly to raise their status in society. He believed that one should always work towards eradicating illiteracy and spreading right kind of knowledge. He was a strong supporter of widow remarriage, and denouncer of untouchability. He strongly criticised discrimination based on caste or creed and waged a relentless battle against child marriage and such like social evils. He also created platform for those desirous of embracing Hinduism. Even those who deserted Hinduism and opted for other streams of religion, could relent and go back to their roots through a simple ceremony of ‘Purification’.
Swamiji toured North India extensively spreading message of Arya Samaj, and riding society of evils of head and heart. Swayed by his missionary zeal, several Anglo-Vedic schools and colleges and ‘Gurukuls’ sprang up to pump Indian ethos in mainstream education. Thus Arya Samaj became harbinger of social revival which gave a new lease of life to national unity and integrity. Thanks to untiring efforts of Swamiji, legacy of India’s rich cultural heritage was saved from corrupting western influences.

Go through the above text, and memorise it on following lines.
Step 1
Read first para.
Step 2
Focus on key elements of first paragraph and quickly underline them.
The key words therein are :
Dayanand Saraswati
Kathiawad
Religious books on Indian culture.
Step 3
Create a mental picture of this story taking care to include key words in the visual. Infact, key words may be hyped or inflated for a lasting impact. For example, try visualising in one go :
1. Whole expanse of Swamiji’s life.
2. India’s Vedic culture in its totality.
Step 4
It is difficult though, to visualise Swamiji’s partriotism and picturise India’s Vedic culture, since not much is said on these counts in the given text.
Yet, you can work out a make believe presentation. Like you may visualise a young girl with a long hair braid and a shinning hair pin. She has a copy of Vedas in her hand which she reverently hands over to Swamiji.
Step 5
Make such like mental visuals for all other paragraphs. Add stated facts and course contents into these visuals. For example, the establishment of Arya Samaj and the ensuing societal and religious reforms may be converted into picture forms for memorising.
Step 6
Use principle of more knowledge-better memory.
Step 7
Use technique of space learning.
How to achieve peak concentration
In order to carry an assortment of words in lasting memory, single pointed concentration of mind is indispensable. Concentration is the foundation stone of prodigious memory. The more you concentrate, the better you remember.
An exercise to this effect is best done by visualising a giant wall clock, and moving its arms into myriad positions.
No doubt, your memory is as strong as your ability to visualize, and focus attention on key areas of text under perusal. If something skirts your attention, or doesn’t jell with your perception; would be hard to retain in memory. On the contrary what draws your attention, seems interesting and easy to learn. That makes you understand them better and retain them in memory for long. Hence ability to steady your mind is imperative to empower memory.
