Effect of Physical Activities

A very few people are aware of the fact that physical activities and questions play an important role in the development of our personality. Body language is an important aspect of communication. This language conveys our natural and such conscious feelings and tell ‘what we are actually’. Our body is able to express itself even though we may not speak, and this allows us to form a opinion about others.

Our Sensations and Feelings

Expressing our body language in a natural way has more importance in comparison to our verbal communication. We are at full liberty, while speaking to choose the words as per our desire, and use them accordingly, in favour or against the circumstances, whereas our body is unable to perform this act of cunningness. This results in truthful expressions and situations. A major research is being undertaken in western countries on body language, whereas in our country this knowledge is in infancy although through films, dramatics, posters, theatre and other media, we have been introduced to this knowledge. We can analyse the thoughts of other person, through the movement of his body parts, judge his mental state of affairs and before the words can reach us to express his status, we are in a position to reserve our decision on the person and be in a safe and comfortable position. It is true that not only we are able to judge other people’s state of affairs and their intentions through body language, but many a time it becomes a tool to express ourselves impressively.
“What is a personality? It is the sum-total of our thoughts, beliefs and feelings, put together. The development of our personality depends directly on our self-thinking and thought processes. It is very much possible that Nature may not have bestowed upon you attractive features; however, there is no doubt that you can enhance your personality by your gestures and code of conduct.”

Indicators of Our Body
The experts who are engaged in the research and study of body language, have concluded that frequent opening and closing of eyelids, closing of eyes tightly, putting lips inside, and chewing the lips, all these features exhibit the state of mental tension within us. Palpitating lips, clenched teeth, closed fists and the trembling of body, display our state of anger.

Striking fingers on a table, stool, floor or other object like a piano, while waiting for somebody, exhibits the state of anxiety or uneasiness within us. The distance between two persons play an important role in determining and affecting the manners of people. People in crowded areas, while travelling in an overcrowded bus, or while standing in a queue to purchase tickets, often are the victims of irritation and uneasiness. Probably, this is one of the main reasons, why violence erupts early at crowded places. The keen interest in the activities of loot and arson, are the glaring examples of the extremism of the people taking out the procession.
“ Our life is above all the arts, and I hereby declare that any person who tries to bring oneness in his life, is the biggest artist.”
Way of Shaking Hands

Technically speaking, the space surrounding any person is called zones. Every person considers his birthright on this zone/sector. But when he sees that this zone is being occupied by someone else, he becomes irritated and is filled with tension. Shaking hands is a very, common practice in today’s world. You must have come across many people with different types of handshakes. Many a person just touchs the fingers, and call it a handshake. Some people just leave their hands loose, while some grip the hand with such a force that the opponent almost shouts in pain. Thus a slackened handshake reveals weak will-power, and low level of self-confidence. The person who does not wish to greet others, but is forced to do under certain compulsions, just merely touches fingers. Only people with full of confidence, strong-willed, successful and filled with happiness always greet persons with a strong and firm grip, filled with warmth and energy. Hands should always be kept for some moments in your palms.
Recognition of People
Some people take the help of outside objects like door, furniture, wall, etc. to stand up; lack of self-confidence is expressed from this activity of theirs. While conversing, people who always keep their hands hidden in their pockets reveal negative thought process. Many a time people lay more presence on one leg or bow too low or keep shaking their legs while talking. It is considered to be bad. It is not justified. So to exhibit self-confidence, a person must sit straight, walk straight and stand straight. It is very vital. Keeping crossed hands across the table is a very common habit. However, when we are in this situation, we are communicating to our opponent, that we are not ready for new experiments nor do we have the requisite enthusiasm. Taking our hands to our mouth very often during conversation, expresses that we are hiding some facts, or whatsoever we are speaking is far away from the reality or truth. Also during conversation, if a person takes his eyes away from the gaze of his opponent, it concludes that the person is not in agreement with the talks of the opponent.
Voice of Eyes

Eyes are one of the most important organs of our body. To understand the body language, it is of vital importance to understand the language of eyes as well. People who are able to understand the language of eyes, very quickly are able to reach a decision on the mental state of a person. Persons who understand and read this language of eyes can very easily experience the presence of curiosity, excitement, desire, confidence, anger and affection, in a person sitting opposite to them. Eyes wide open, gazing downwards, having an eye-to-eye contact, squinted eyes, all these situations convey different meanings. Probably experiencing the truth of this statement a poet has written,
“Yeh ankhen mere dil ki zubaan hai,” Or “ Akhion ko Rehna do Akhion ke aaspass, Dil se dil ki hoti rahe baat”
To understand the body language it is important to observe each part of the body. Many a time, the sign displayed by any part of the body may be far away from the reality. In order to know the body language, prior knowledge of a place, culture and their habits is a must.
Theme of Our Feelings
There are many weaknesses and faults in man. Due to these shortcomings he cannot reach his goal, because due to these bad habits, the will-power weakens. Such weaknesses, faults and nature can be overcome by self-analysis only. Self-talking would lead to the elimination of these weaknesses and faults. With regards to our bad habits and faults, while self-analysing yourself you should talk as such, “This is that particular bad habit, which has weakened my power. Due to this fault of mine, I have not been successful in my job. Due to this fault only, I have lost my health and due to this reason I have not been courageous and enthusiastic. Due to this bad habit, I am unable to control my mind as I desire to do. It is just due to this habit that I have reached this pitiable situation. I now have promised myself to get rid of this habit instantaneously.”
Furthermore, in context of this bad habit and while self-analysis, you should be saying, “My life has been destroyed and I have become a laughing stock amongst my own people and left behind. I in spite of being more experienced and qualified than others, I am unsuccessful. I will get rid of this habit in future and at all the cost have to shed this bad habit.”

  • People biting nails while talking very often hide things from the others.
  • Putting finger in your mouth, nose and ears while talking is bad manners.
  • Most of the people bend their back while sitting and this habit gets stronger with the passage of time and the back keeps bending down naturally, which not only from the health point of view but even from etiquettes and manners, demands us to sit straight. Keeping our spine straight makes us look healthier, enthusiastic and brighter.
  • Many persons have the habit of copying habits and mimicking others, which initially they do for entertaining themselves and their friends, but at a later stage this becomes part and parcel of their lives. We should not forget our basic nature.
  • Until and unless our bond of relations becomes stronger and informal, we should not put our arms around the other’s neck, waist or pull his hands.
  • Clean and sparkling teeth impress everyone; we should use mouth freshener to get rid of bad breath.
  • We should always keep our nails well cut, neat and clean. Uncut distorted and dirty nails reveal our negative attitudes.
  • We should keep our nose clean and avoid putting finger in our nose in front of others.
  • There are many ways to say ‘no’, and every act has a difficult meaning; therefore, a person with sharp intellect should be in a position to read a person’s non-verbal communication through body language.
  • It is rightly said that bad habits should be dropped initially. If we cannot get rid of the bad habit today then at a later stage it would become stronger and stronger. People would watch us with contempt and we shall not be successful.

Principles of Truth
The sighting of the moon in broad daylight is impressionless. The beauty of a woman is effectless without youthfulness. A pond without a lotus flower is unimpressive. A wealthy man if he is miserly is worthless, a beautiful woman if wicked, she is characterless. Both an unemployed husband and a childless woman are useless.
