Egg In A Bottle (Creative Chemistry Experiments)

You will need:

  1. Hard-boiled egg (peeled)
  2. A glass bottle with a
    large mouth (but not
    bigger than the egg)
  3. Strips of paper
  4. Matchsticks
  5. Scissors

It’s amazing how many magic tricks can easily be explained with science. And to add one more trick to the bag of everything magical, is the following experiment.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Ask an adult to cut thin strips of paper using scissors and burn them with the help of a matchstick. Drop them while they burn into the glass bottle.
  2. Place a hard-boiled egg on top, on the mouth of the bottle keeping the smaller side of the egg facing downwards.
  3. Wait for the burning strip of paper to go out.

RESULT

As soon as the fire goes out, the egg is sucked into the bottle. This happens because of changes in air pressure and temperature, inside and outside the bottle.
