Living among reefs, sandy patches and rubble is this slender, colourful fish with a purple head and a white or yellow body that darkens to grey towards the tail. The fins have bands of purple, red, black and orange. It feeds on copepods, zooplankton and crustaceans, and quickly leaps into holes when disturbed. Lifespan is 3 years.
