The elephant seal has a trunk-like proboscis (that of an elephant) that can produce loud noises. There are two types–the Northern elephant seal and the Southern elephant seal. Living in warm coastal zaters are these 16 feet long mammals that weigh up to 3,000 kg. It feeds on skates, rays, squids, octopuses, eels, small sharks and large fish. Lifespan is 14-22 years.
