To be successful in life self-confidence is the foremost basic trait, which one requires. Self-analysis is the key to attain confidence, and once achieved, no power in this universe can take you away from your goals and your name shall reckon on the sky only if you know your potential.
GIFT OF SEASONS
A wise man would accumulate only such goods as are in plentiful supply.
Happiness is a profound instinctive union with the stream of life.
One of the high goals of the society besides survival, is to reflect on its pursuit of happiness and harmony and its success in expelling pain, sorrow, tension and ignorance.
Realize Your Importance
According to an old Chinese proverb, one who cannot evaluate himself, cannot evaluate others. Therefore, we must know our importance. Such persons who lack self-confidence, do not perform to the utmost, as they don`t try with all their heart. People who are hesitant and stay quiet do not achieve success in their life.
According to a renowned writer, Swate Mardain- “Self-dependence and self-confidence are always more influential than friendship, family, relations, sickness and recommendations. Self-confidence is the supreme power and asset in this universe which helps overcome difficulties and leads to victory for all times to come. Most of the arduous tasks are accomplished with self-confidence, a quality which contributes the maximum in human beings.”
The persons who are a lively example of self-confidence became legendary figures. You may recall the praiseworthy success of Sh. Ramesh Chander, an ordinary cloth merchant of Kolkata, whose conversation with the anchor Sh. Amitabh Bachhan of Kaun Banega Crorepati led him to earn a sum of 50 lac, by sheer grit and self-confidence. In another episode of this serial, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Navathe answered all the questions of KBC by showing a stable controlled state of mind, which led him to be the first winner in the history of television industry to win a jackpot of rupees one crore. This clearly indicates the power of self- confidence.
Treasure of Self-Confidence
Karl Mitz was a boy of physical deformities with a short height, slim legs, defective walk, inclined shoulders and a hump on his back. In other words, on the whole he had very unusual physical appearance. He stood first in Xth standard, but due to his deformed physical appearance, he was denied the honour of the presentation of the award among the other students and dignitaries in a school function, as the authorities thought it to be a blot on their face and their institute. He cried bitterly on this incident; however, his father consoled and assured him, “Why do you feel depressed? It is only your physical body which is deformed, but your mind is the most powerful asset. You have the most valuable treasure of self-confidence and with the help of these qualities, you should overcome your physical deformities.”
Karl wiped off his tears. He invented and discovered a lot of things. In the field of science, his name is taken with great respect and honour. It is due to his invention that the age of electrical machines started.
Success ‘touches’ the feet of those persons who are optimistic and have self-confidence with a positive attitude towards life.
Those people who dream to be successful and their hearts are filled with self-confidence, should stay away from negative thoughts and avoid such persons who create hurdles in their path. There are many people in this world who do not wish to work, nor would they appreciate the success of others. One should avoid such persons, as they do not perform nor let others fulfil their aspirations.
“We can control an unconscious thought, beliefs, faiths and experiences by our conscious mind. We are the creator of thoughts, on which we should have a full control. By a mere change in thoughts the process of life changes. If we think that we are makers and creators of our destiny, the same process begins. There is no greater power than confidence.”
—Dr. John Shindler
A strong determination breaks larger tasks into small fragments. Self-confidence is a belief and faith in itself. As and when we repeat with a determination that we have to accomplish this task, take it for granted that half of the work is complete there and then itself. Self-confidence gives us the strength and grit to withstand the obstacles in our way. It is a universal truth that the word ‘impossible’ is found in the dictionary of fools. Obstacles also bring the signs of solutions along with them.
Self-confident persons tread on the path of progress after coming through many helping opportunities on their way to success. There is nothing to worry or get disappointed in case one has to retreat a few steps on his way to success. A self-confident person realises that retreating a few steps helps them to prepare for the final long leap to success. On the way to progress, if the need arises, to retreat a few steps for the final goal is a sign of policy matter to mark your victory. By losing a round or two in a game does not mean that you have lost the game; hence, it is said- Himmat-a Marda Marda-a Khudha.
God helps those who help themselves. The truth lies in the fact that we are impoverished, due to the lack of power of reasoning, despair, fear, non-building of self-confidence and laziness. If you are putting in sincere effort to become a rich and successful person, the question of being poor and impoverished does not arise. One should try to think and act like a wealthy person by broadening outlook, whereby eliminating all the chances of acting like a poor person. As long as the environment of poverty surrounds you under no circumstances an expression of wealth can be put upon the society you are living in. Under such conditions, you cannot generate a good will nor you can attract prosperity towards you.
It is a well-known story that the crow lost its bread on listening to the false praise of the fox by opening its mouth. When you express your shortcomings and weakness before others, viz that I am not competent to perform, nor I have lady-luck smiling on me nor I have always been unsuccessful, believe me, you yourself are erecting barriers in the path of your success. It should be clearly understood that by not leaving these habits, one is not only losing the opportunity to defeat the rivals of poverty, but also likely to lose his peace of mind and health, and giving invitation to difficulties, diseases and bad luck too.
There is no alternate to self-confidence. It is the Golden Key that unlocks the doors of destiny towards success. It should always be kept in mind that firstly our thoughts become high and then us.
No Alternative to Self-Confidence
Self-confidence enlightens our path to success. Self-confidence begets success and self-confidence is complimentary to success. No guarantee of success is assured, whenever we begin a new venture. The chances of accomplishing the job hasten if we go hand in hand with self-confidence. It may also be visualized that success also increases our self-confidence. Financially self-dependent, good health, beauty, physical amenities, achievements and a peaceful life are the key elements in attaining self-confidence. Those who face the realities of life and become friendly with the difficulties are found to be rich in self-confidence. Straightforward and truthful persons are filled with self-confidence. Those people lack in self-confidence who are involved in wrong deeds and are linked with criminals, are uneducated, cunning and selfish. Persons possessing the wealth of self-confidence are honoured and trusted everywhere and always. These people are capable of getting jobs accomplished with small inputs too; hence, it is openly said-
“Khudee ko Kar Buland Itna,
Ke har Taqdeer se Pahle,
Khuda Bande Se Khud Puchhe
Bata Teri Razza Kaya hai?”
Principles of Developing Self-Confidence
There are two main factors which play an important role in increasing our self-confidence:- attained factors and unattained factors. Attained factors are comprised of educational and professional skills, business accomplishments, success in a business or service, hobbies and the development of a personality, whereas unattained factors are family conditions, physical appearance, social environ-ment, caste, gender, religion and community. Generally attained factors play the most important role in the achievement of self-confidence, which is also justified by the fact that we are capable of doing this from social and constitutional point of view. Most of the psychologists have concluded that both the factors, viz attainable and unattainable, equally play an important role in the development of the attainable factors. Both of these factors are inseparable. We can enhance our physical beauty by developing a good personality. Self-confidence depletes by being pessimistic, irrespestive of your birth having taken place in a royal family. In order to maintain his self-confidence a person has two ways, either he should achieve whatsoever he desires or he should minimize his wants and desires accordingly. Self-confidence is not only a mental state of mind but is also equally reflected in his outward personality too. People who are full of confidence, radiate it in their talks and activities. The skills and mental capacities of highly self-confident people are automatically increased. A sense of confidence reflects in their decisions, whereas a person without self-confidence keeps on rolling from post to post.
Disadvantages of Lack of Self-Confidence
Lack of self-confidence and frustrated mental state of mind adversely affects our health, beauty and performance. Many psychological disorders are created. Lack of sleep, decrease in food intake, non-concentration and irritated behaviour, are a few conditions which are observed, due to lack of self-confidence. To give birth to self-confidence in onerself, one should be able to judge oneself. No person is born with low or high self-confidence.
Our own deeds, personality and mental state are the key elements which regulate the supply of self-confidence. Most of the people who had bad experiences and incomplete childhood, have the lack of self-confidence more as compared to the ones who don’t have.
It also occurs due to the fact that such children, when they grow up, are unable to fulfil their desires in their social life, due to the negative exoerience of their childhood. Also, due to lack of self-confidence such children are unable to adjust themselves with the norms of the society when they grow up.
It may be noted very clearly that unless we do not recognise our main potential strengths and give them their due, the recognition given by the society also fails to build our self-confidence.
In the words of Dushyant Kumar-
“ Kaun Kehta Hai Ki Asmaan Mein Surakh Ho Nahi Sakta, Ek Pathar to Tabiyat se Unchalo Yaaro.”
One can accomplish only those jobs, for which he is confident. A person who thinks that he is one of the million poor people, who could not achieve wealth, can never become rich and prosperous. You must have observed that most of the students who leave their studies leave due to their negative thinking. Just imagine students who in spite of giving them the best opportunities, shall not succeed in examinations, because they lack self-confidence. Those young men who think they can never become officers, do not become so; such people land themselves in the chair of clerical posts only. Although certain persons in enthusiasm became desirous of choosing professions like Law, Business or Medicine but still do not become successful due to lack of self-confidence and instability of the mind. Such students had the opportunity to change their lives, lead themselves on the path to riches and wealth, had they successfully put in sincere efforts. A certain set of young men does exist who perform their duties with full zeal and with a fixed aim; thus regular efforts become their way of life. Such people reach the heights of success, and on the analysis of their successful careers, we find that it’s only their self-confidence, which led them to the heights.
Principles of Truth
A person who lacks education and is still arrogant, who in spite of being poor is highly desirous, who earns money through wrong means, who gets haughty on achieving small success, who accepts jobs beyond his capabilities and capacities and who always remains unsatisfied-it appears highly doubtful that the life of such a person shall be impressive.
