About 15 mm in length, the European earwig is a major pest to all agricultural crops. Mostly nocturnal, the earwig hides during the day in flowers, plants and crevices and hunts for food ranging from plants to small insects at night. A female can lay about 50 eggs in an underground nest, which she guards and cleans from fungal growth until they hatch.
