Eye-protector

The eyes of human beings are very sensitive and cannot bear extreme light. The retina of the human eye can get damaged because of immense light. Therefore, earlier people started inventing different eye-protectors. Eye-protectors were invented within the past 130 years. It is the result of modification done in traditional eyewear. After 4 BC, it has been accounted that a Roman philosopher, dramatist and statesman, Seneca, used a glass globe which was full of water and worked as a magnifier. Seneca read ‘all the books of Rome’ using the same glass globe. Thereafter in Italy, glass blowers were accredited with creating solid glass reading stones. Today’s hand-held magnifying lenses are similar to these reading stones.

Later, an English scientist and philosopher Roger Bacon accounted on the importance and utilization of reading lenses in the middle of the 13th century.
