Fasil Ghebbi was a fortress city built in Ethiopia in the 17th and the 18th century. Fasil Ghebbi, literally meaning ‘Royal Enclosure’, was home to the Ethiopian emperors. Built across 70,000 square metres, the fortress was enclosed by a curtain wall with twelve gates. The architectural style displayed is a diverse blend of influences including Nubian styles.
