Fletcher Christian was born on 25th September 1764 in Eaglesfield, Cumbria, United Kingdom and he died on 20th September 1793 (aged 29 years) on the Pitcairn Islands. Fletcher was a sailor by profession. After a career in the Royal Navy he was sailing with William Bligh on a 2-year voyage from Tahiti to the West Indies. During the Mutiny he tried to establish a settlement and build a colony in Tubuai. On reaching Tahiti he married a local woman and moved on to the Pitcairn Islands.
