There were three brothers living in a village. They were very poor. Among the three brothers the youngest was a fool. But he thought himself a clever man. The other two brothers told him to sell their ox in the city. On the way, a sudden storm arose. While passing under a tree, the youngest brother heard the creaking sound of the tree. He thought that the tree was speaking to him. He asked the tree, “I think you wish to buy my ox.” The tree creaked even louder and the fool thought that the tree had agreed to buy his ox. He tied the ox to the tree. He told the tree that he would come to fetch the money later. When he reached home and told his brothers about the deal, his brothers laughed and made fun of him. The foolish man went back to the tree in anger. He cut down the tree in anger. He found a pot of gold coins in the tree trunk. The foolish man became a rich man. His brothers no longer made fun of him.
