The foot is the base of the human leg. There are 26 bones and more than 100 muscles in the human foot. This network makes the human foot a complex part. The bones of the foot are arranged into three parts: the tarsal bones, metatarsal bones and phalanges. The metatarsal bones form the body of the foot.
The phalanges create the toes. The bones of the arches of the foot are held together by ligaments (see 30 for ligaments) and are supported by muscles.
