Frozen Bubbles (Creative Chemistry Experiments)

You will need:

q Soapy water (with liquid
soap and water)
q Freezer
q Plate
q Straw

What if you could freeze a bubble and see how it looks? Well, it is not easy to do, but is definitely worth the patience and time involved.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Take the straw or your bubble wand and dip it into the soapy bubble water.
  2. Take a plate, and very gently blow a bubble onto the plate.
  3. Once you have a bubble of the size you want (on the plate), very slowly take your plate and keep it gently in the freezer.
  4. In case your bubble bursts,
    don’t fret. Do this process
    again.
  5. Leave your bubble undisturbed in the freezer for half an hour.

RESULT

Even though after you have removed it from the freezer yet the bubble won’t last very long; you can still enjoy the frozen piece of art you have created for a few minutes. The reason the water bubble does not burst is because the water is trapped between the two very thin layers of soap, which freeze and make the bubble more solid.
