Fred was very excited. His mouth was watering. He could smell the aroma of something interesting being made in the kitchen. Mother was making lovely cookies–chocolate chip–his favourite! Mother said, “Share the cookies with your friends.” But Fred did not wish to share the cookies with any of his friends. Fred waited eagerly for the cookies to bake. Then he watched his mother take them out of the oven and lay them out on the rack to cool. The cookies had different shapes. Fred said, “This one looks like a ball. I will give it to Pere. He loves to play. That one looks like a ring. I will give it to Russel.” Soon, Fred had collected many cookies for his friends and kept them aside. Mother laughed a lot and said, “Well, you were not going to share your cookies but now I can see a heap there.”
