The entire marriage procession of Vishnu was trying to pull the stuck wheel of his carriage out of the hole, but it would not budge. A farmer, who was passing by, saw their struggle and offered to help. The gods were sceptical and some even made fun of him, thinking how a mere farmer could help when Lord Vishnu himself had failed! They all had a discussion and ultimately, the farmer was given a chance. “Jai Ganesha, Jai Ganesha..,” he chanted Lord Ganesha’s name and heaved out the chariot’s wheel. The wheel came out at once! As the gods looked surprised, the farmer smiled at them and said, “Lord Ganesha is the ‘Obstacle Remover’. Just taking his name removes all problems.” Vishnu and the gods realised their mistake. They remembered Ganesha. All of a sudden, Ganesha appeared before them. The gods apologised to him. They learnt a big lesson–it is a person’s goodness that counts, not his looks! They requested Ganesha to join the wedding procession. So Ganesha happily joined in!
