Gateway of India

The Gateway of India is a monument that was built on the waterfront in Mumbai, India, between 1914 and 1924. The Gateway of India was initially a crude jetty used by fishermen, until the British renovated it and used it for important dignitaries. 26 metres in height, the monument is a reinforced concrete and yellow basalt arch structure that has been referred to as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai.

Amazing Fact: The Gateway has unfortunately been a venue for three major terrorist attacks in India.
