About 13 mm in length, the German wasp is also popularly known as ‘yellow jacket’ because of its specific colouring. These insects are opportunistic scavengers which eat anything and everything from live arthropods, fruits, carrion to human garbage. Their nests are built with chewed plant fibres and saliva. These nests are usually found below ground. The German wasp has a distinctive worker specialization pattern and mating behaviour.
