The giant squid grows 10-13 metres long, possessing a mantle, eight arms and two longer tentacles. The arms and tentacles are lined with hundreds of suction cups, each mounted on a stalk, used to attach to its prey. It has a complex brain, a sophisticated nervous system and a closed circulatory system. These solitary hunters feed on fish and other squids.
