Farmer Lang was known for his generosity. He wanted to give something always to anyone who came to the farm. But one day things became difficult for him. Mrs Collins, the lady who kept the post office in the village, wanted to buy his favourite dog, Bumper! “I need someone to guard my home!” she said. Bumper heard this and he would hide every time Mrs Collins came. Farmer Lang simply couldn’t find him. One day, Bumper found a puppy wandering around outside the farm. It gave him an idea. He carried the puppy quietly to Mrs Collins’ doorstep early morning and hid among the bushes. Mrs Collins came out to pick up the milk and found the puppy there. She was so charmed that she picked him up and carried him inside!
