Interesting fact : First described in 1789, this dragonfly is considered to be the most widespread dragonfly in the world.
At 4.5 cm in length and having a wingspan of at least 7 cm, the globe skimmer has clear and broad wings. There is sexual dimorphism between the male and the female. Predatory in nature, this dragonfly eats almost all kinds of aquatic invertebrates, tadpoles, small fish, insects’ larvae and small shrimps. A female can lay about 500-2000 eggs in one clutch, which hatch and develop in approximately 65 days.
