The Waitomo Glowworm Cave is a popular cave attraction on the North Island of New Zealand. The Glowworm Cave, as the name suggests, is known for its extensive population of glow-worms, a species that is as small as a mosquito in size. Guided tours are made through three levels of the caves for tourists. With many underwater pools, lakes and brooks, tourists are treated to a visually stunning sight of dark caves, many with water bodies and millions of glow-worms that cover the walls and roofs of the caves.
