Goat Tossing Festival is a bizarre tradition held in a small village known as Manganeses de la Polvorosa.
Do you know: This event, which is held in the end of January, is actually carried out to honour the local patron saint, St. Vincent de Paul.
The goat tossing tradition is performed exactly as the name states. A young man first finds a goat, then ties its feet up and takes it atop a church tower, from where he tosses the goat down to the people standing with a tarpaulin to catch the goat, all in the honour of the local saint. Despite many local authorities and animal right activists, protests, the tradition still continues.
