Good Manners

Little Paul was so arrogant and vain that he always wanted to lead. He wanted everyone else to obey him. However, his friends never listened to him. One day, Paul’s teacher saw him sitting sadly and went to him. She took two pieces of paper and wrote something on them. Then, she gave them to Paul and asked him to use the first before he wanted someone to do something, and use the second when he had done it. Paul took both the papers happily and thought of trying them. He read the first piece and said to his classmate, “Could you please let me play first?” The other boy, surprised by Paul’s politeness, happily gave him his bat. Then he read the second piece and said, “Thank you.” Paul happily came back to his teacher to tell her what had happened. She simply smiled and told him that good manners can do wonders.
