The Great Sphinx is a limestone statue presumably built between 2558-2532 BC in Giza, Egypt. The Great Sphinx of Giza is not only the oldest monumental statue but also the largest monolith statue in the world. It has a height of 20.22 metres and length of 73.5 metres. It is believed that the Sphinx has the face of the Pharaoh Khafra. However, much of the information about the statue, such as why it was built and who built it is shrouded in mystery.
Amazing Fact: The Great Sphinx is one of the few structures of ancient Egypt that does not have any inscription or symbols on it whatsoever.
