Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is a series of walls built from Dandong in the east to Lop Lake in the west, from the 7th century BC to the 14th century AD. The Great Wall was constructed by early Chinese empires to protect their states from invasions and also as a form of border control. While the early walls were built from stone and tamped earth, bricks and other materials were used for fortifying and creating new walls by later emperors. The entire length of the wall with all its divisions is 21,196 km in length.

Amazing Fact: During the Qing Dynasty, the bricks of the Great wall were bound together using glutinous rice flour!
