Common name : Grey house spider
Scientific name : Badumna longinqua
Family : Desidae
Native to : Australia
Interesting fact : The female of this species never leaves her web, unless and until a predator forces her to.
About 11 mm in length, the male is smaller than the female. It resides in tree trunks, shrubs, buildings, cars, rock walls, etc. Nocturnal in nature, it comes out at night to hunt its prey. The web created by this spider is generally very messy and untidy, and lacks lustre. The female keeps repairing the old web making it look grey and woolly.
