Shiny was in cheering spirits today. She was one of the most mischievous children of the school. She wanted to become successful in life without doing hardwork. Today she was very pleased to have torn off her report card. Infact, she had failed in the half-yearly examinations, and thus, did not wanted to show it to her parents.
Shiny was happy, but also ashamed for her act, “What if my parents come to know what I have done?” She thought, “I would not be able to show my face to them.’’ She was guilty of her act. She was engrossed in her thoughts when her mother called her up.
“Shiny, I know how many marks have you got this time,” said mother.
“Oh, so you know everything about that,” Shiny replied gazing at her mother. “Infact I have torn off my report card only because I have failed in the half-yearly exams. I am sorry, I would not repeat the mistake again, but study hard to pass the exams with flying colours.’’
“Shiny,” her mother said, “I didn’t know that you have torn off your report card, but I was sensing something wrong and felt that you were guilty of something. I didn’t even know how many marks have you got this time, but since I wanted to catch you red-handed thus I told you that I know how many marks have you attained in the exams. I forgive you this time, but don’t repeat this mistake again in future. Next time, I won’t forgive you.
Moral—Don’t do anything wrong, else you shall suffer from guilt and guilty conscience is always suspicious.
