Gulliver loved going to the sea and had many adventures. Once, the ship was wrecked in a storm and he floated on a log of wood till he reached a shore, half-drowned and exhausted. He fell asleep there and woke up when the sun was shining on his face.
Gulliver found he couldn’t get up because he was tied down with fine ropes. He couldn’t even turn his head, for his hair was also tied down. He heard voices and then he could feel something crawling up his leg. He found a small man, about six inches tall, standing on his chest. He yelled loudly and the man fell off in fright. There were hundreds of little arrows shot at him from all around. He felt them like a lot of pin-pricks all over his face. He broke the rope tying his left hand and swept it around.
The little soldiers ran helter-skelter. Then there was a little silence, after which he heard the sounds of hammering. A platform was set up near him and soon, some very important person climbed onto it. He wore rich clothes and made a long speech that Gulliver couldn’t understand at all.
Gulliver was hungry and he made signs that he wanted food. Finally, the little men understood what he wanted. They loaded all the horse carts they had with meat, food and wine and brought them for him. Their food-items were like little morsels for him, but he ate heartily.
Slowly, the little men dragged him on a large trolley to their city. There, the King would talk to him and Gulliver began to understand their language. He learnt that he was in the kingdom of Lilliput. The King became very friendly and finally, Gulliver was untied and allowed to roam freely in the city of the Lilliputians.
The King would take his advice on all matters of the court. Gulliver helped the King when there was danger that Lilliput would be attacked by the neighbouring kingdom of Blefuscu. Blefuscu had prepared fifty warships to attack Lilliput.
Gulliver simply waded through the sea, carrying ropes with him. He tied the ropes to the fifty ships of Blefuscu and dragged them back to Lilliput. His success pleased the King of Lilliput but the courtiers grew jealous of him and planned to have him killed. When Gulliver learnt of the plot, he escaped to Blefuscu, taking back their ships. The King of Blefuscu gave him many gifts and helped him to build a boat to go back to his home.
