There are only two living species of the hairy-nosed wombat, the Southern hairy-nosed wombat and the Northern hairy-nosed wombat. The hairy-nosed wombat’s nose is hairy, covered with fur. Their body fur is fine and silky, and is silver-grey, black, white or brown in colour. They are herbivores and have a life span of 14 years in the wild and 20 in captivity.
