Sheikh Chilli’s sandals were in a very bad condition, so his mother told him to buy a new pair. She advised, “Sheikh, you should pay only half the price the shopkeeper asks you for. Learn to bargain.” Sheikh went to the shoe shop. Soon, he selected a pair of sandals. He asked the price and the shopkeeper said, “Forty rupees.” Sheikh said that he would give only twenty, and remained firm on it. The shopkeeper said, “What are you saying, Sir! Anyway, since you are the first customer of the day, I will give these sandals for twenty rupees to you.” Sheikh being an obedient son, again said that he would now pay ten rupees for the sandals. The shopkeeper got very angry, “Are you joking? I have already reduced it to twenty rupees! Do you have any idea of the real price?” Sheikh stuck to what his mother told him, ‘half the price’ and said, “Ten rupees!” This time the furious shopkeeper shouted, “You might as well take them free!” Simpleton Sheikh took the sandals and walked away, leaving the shopkeeper speechless!
