Hanuman was constantly thinking about the reunion of Lord Ram with his beloved wife Sita. But how would that happen if they were unable to cross the sea and reach Lanka? Only he could cross it. The others could neither fly nor swim across the vast ocean. He was confident of finding a solution, as Lord Ram was with them. But he could not figure it out at that moment. Hanuman became restless, but he never stopped chanting Ram’s name. Suddenly, he remembered about Nal and Neel. An excited Hanuman told Ram, “My Lord! We should build a bridge across the ocean! Monkey brothers Nal and Neel will help us in that mission. They were cursed by a sage that whatever they throw into water will float instead of sinking. The things thrown in water would remain on the spot where they were thrown, even if the water underneath flows fast. This curse would be helpful in making a bridge!”
