Seeta was happy hearing all that Hanuman told her. But she wondered how this tiny monkey could have crossed the ocean. Hanuman showed her his capacity to increase or reduce his size as he willed. He offered to carry her back. But Seeta wanted Rama’s to defeat Ravana and the rakshasas so that his glory might spread across the world. Hanuman wondered how he would convince Rama that it was truly Seeta whom he had seen. Seeta told him of incidents that only she and Rama knew of. Then she gave him her chudamani, a hair ornament, to be given to Rama. It had been a gift from her mother when she married him. Bowing to her, Hanuman left. He decided to do something to frighten the rakshasas before he left. So, he ate fruits, uprooted trees, broke tanks and created havoc in the vatika.
