Sita’s precious necklace was soon reduced to pieces and it lay scattered all over the floor. Hanuman was known for his wisdom, knowledge and intelligence. So, no one expected such a behaviour from him. ‘Why is Hanuman destroying an expensive necklace gifted to him so lovingly by Sita?’ people started whispering among themselves. Vibheeshan, too, was unhappy with the way Hanuman was treating the precious necklace that he had brought for Sita. Finally, one minister stood up and asked, “O mighty hero! What are you up to? Do you know how expensive it is? Tell us why you destroyed that precious necklace!” Hanuman heard him patiently and replied, “I feel blessed to receive this gift from Mother Sita. But I was looking if Lord Ram’s name was written in any of the gems. I threw it away because anything that is devoid of Ram’s name is worthless. They are just simple stones for me.”
