Hanuman assumed the form of a Brahmana and reached Bharata asking the people his whereabouts. Seeing a Brahmana at the door of his hut, Bharata brought him inside. Though Bharata was very depressed, he served the Brahmana fruits and roots.
Hanuman sought to know the cause of Bharata’s sadness. Then Bharata said, “It seems that tomorrow is the last day of my life.”
“Why do you say like this, O Gentleman?” asked Hanuman. Then, Bharata replied, “Tomorrow fourteen years of my brother Rama’s exile will be over but there is no news of his arrival as yet. If my brother Rama does not come tomorrow, I will give up my life.” Hanuman turned into his real self and introduced himself. He also gave the news of Rama’s arrival the next morning. Pleased to hear this, Bharata hugged Hanuman to his bosom. With the permission of Bharata Hanuman returned to Rama. The news of Rama’s arrival spread throughout Ayodhya. All the people made preparations for celebration. Their long wait was about to be over.
