It is believed that no one–no matter how influential or powerful–can escape from the disaster caused by Lord Shani’s gaze. Once, Shani’s glance fell on Ravan. Furious, he put Shani in a tiny prison! Hanuman had reached Lanka in search of Sita. After his mission was accomplished, he decided to teach the arrogant Ravan a lesson. He started setting Lanka on fire with his burning tail! But he was not achieving the desired effect. It was then when Hanuman heard someone’s cries for help, he came upon Lord Shani confined in a cell. Shani begged Hanuman to rescue him. Hanuman obliged. In return, Shani promised Hanuman that he would not cause any harm to his devotees. Shani did not take Ravan’s insult lightly. He turned his gaze towards the golden city of Lanka and reduced it into a heap of black soot and ashes in a matter of seconds!
