Harsh Truth

Draupadi pleaded with Krishna before he left, to avenge the dishonour she suffered. Krishna assured her and left for Hastinapura. He refused Dhritarashtra’s gifts and Duryodhana’s hospitality and stayed with Vidura. He learnt from Vidura that Bhishma and Drona had to remain loyal to the throne of Hastinapura. The next day, Krishna went with Vidura to the court. First he bluntly told Dhritarashtra that he twisted what was right and wrong and did not control his sons. Dhritarashtra asked Krishna to advise his sons. Krishna told Duryodhana to return half the kingdom, won by cheating, to the Pandavas and reminded him of the terrible insult to Draupadi. He was supported by Bhishma and Drona, and later by Gandhari, their mother. Duryodhana walked out of court refusing to give anything. Krishna revealed His Divine Power to the court, so Duryodhana could not attack him, and left for Upaplavya.
