Hatim Tai being the kind and generous man could not leave anyone in distress. On hearing the young merchant’s story he went to the city where Harith and his daughter lived. There, he met Harith’s daughter and said to her, “If your father signs a written agreement with me, I will find answers to your questions. The agreement has to mention clearly that once I have solved your questions you will marry my friend, the merchant.” Harith’s daughter inquired, “If you are unable to find answers then what should be the punishment?” Hatim Tai replied, “With the grace of God I will not fail, but just in case I do, I do not have any wealth to give you; thus I will cut off my head in front of you!” Hatim and Harith signed the agreement and Hatim set out to explore the mysteries that lay in the innermost core of the cave.
