Hatim Tai had accomplished his first mission. He was ready to go back, but his compassionate heart did not allow him to leave the lamenting old man behind. He asked the old man if he was sure he wanted to spend the rest of his life in enchantment. The old man agreed happily. Hatim said to him, “What you saw was the world of enchantment; the secret to stay in that world is not to hold the hand of any nymph or to remove her veil. If you do so, you will be thrown back into this desert. You have to be strong enough not to touch any of them in order to stay in that world. I was lucky to meet a stranger who revealed the secret to me.” Hatim then took the old man to the edge of the lake. Leaving him in the enchanted world, he continued his journey.
