Hatim’s Daughter

Hatim was a religious man. He served his people according to the rules of God. He even composed a book of devotion. In his last days, he called his family and said to them, “It’s time for me to go, but remember to help the needy. Do not abandon your duties. May God be with you!” When Hatim died, his daughter took over the kingdom. A neighbouring king, on hearing the news, attacked Yemen and imprisoned the queen. He told the queen, who was Hatim’s daughter, that she could be released only on the condition that she surrendered all her men to him. The queen said to him, “I have my father’s blood in my veins and I will never abandon my people!” The king was much impressed by her courage. He gave orders to release the queen and set the kingdom free, for the sake of both, the brave father Hatim and his equally brave daughter.
