Hazel, the donkey, was the most sweet-natured creature on the farm. Everyone adored her. She would willingly carry loads and give rides to all the farm babies. If a chick or duckling, a lamb or a rabbit was missing, everyone went straight to Hazel. And there, she would be playing with them! But one day, all the babies were missing. When they went to Hazel, she was happily munching thistles but the babies were not there. Worried about them, all the creatures set off to look for them. After a while, one of the dogs heard some sounds from the bar. He sniffed and thought the little fellows must all be inside. He called up the others and pushed open the barn door. There was a burst of light and a large feast was laid out with a cake saying ‘Happy Birthday, Hazel’! Farmer Twiller and his family with all the babies sang loudly!
