The King Pigeon’s words were wise, “Never allow your greed to overcome your common sense, my friends.” But one of the pigeons was rebellious. He wanted to eat the grains, so he told them that wisdom does not mean they should go hungry. “We should not follow only the advice of old people,” he said scornfully, “Otherwise, we will not achieve anything.” He swooped down and the others followed him and flew down too. As they began to peck the grains, they were caught in the net! The pigeons began to beat their wings helplessly and complain. They blamed the rebellious pigeon for having got them all into this trap. The wise Pigeon King told them that getting over-excited at good fortune or feeling miserable when in trouble was foolish. They should not be frightened. He told them that when he gave a signal, all of them should lift off together, carrying the net.
