Named after the German naturalist Karl Hoffmann sloths are cold-blooded; unlike mammals, they conserve energy, they also have only 25% muscle mass compared to mammals which have double the amount. Its fur houses algae, which give its fur a greenish tinge, thus aiding in camouflage. They eat, sleep, mate and deliver babies hanging upside down from trees.
