In 1924, the then-luxurious Hotel del Salto opened on the cliff facing the waterfall southwest of Bogotá, the capital city of Columbia. Situated just opposite to the waterfall and on the edge of the cliff, it provided a breathtaking view to its guests. The hotel was later abandoned in the early 90s for more than two decades due to the contamination of River Bogotá. The fact that many people in the past chose that spot to commit suicide, made others believe that the hotel is haunted. The mansion reopened as a museum in 2013 with its first exhibit: ‘Caverns, ecosystems of the subterranean world’.
