Preparations for Coronation Ceremony

One day, king Dasharatha felt that, as he himself was growing old, suitable arrangements must be made to appoint a successor. Next day, he consulted with Sage Vasishtha in this regard and called an assembly of his ministers and courtiers. There, he proposed Rama as his successor as he was the eldest son.

The assembly agreed to the proposal of king Dasharatha in one voice. King Dasharatha felt very happy. Rama was competent and the apple of his father’s eye. Rama was called to the assembly hall and informed of the decision. He humbly accepted his father’s order to take the responsibility of being the Crown -Prince. The king explained to Rama the duties that he would have to carry out. Meanwhile, the news of Rama being the Crown-Prince spread across the kingdom. Bharata and Shatrughna were in Kekaya at that time. Message was sent to the Chambers of the three queens. As coronation ceremony was to take place the next day, preparations were in full swing. People were in joyous mood as Rama was adorable to one and all.
