It was a case of counter accusations. The fox accused the wolf of having robbed him, whereas the wolf accused the fox of having cheated him. The dispute was taken to the court, where a monkey sat as a judge. The case was full of contradictions. When it became too complicated, the monkey lost his patience.
It was the day of judgement. The monkey read out his order, “The wolf is guilty because he could not prove the guilt of the fox and the fox is guilty because, as we all know, he is a thief by nature. And since both liars and thieves are supposed to be lodged in prison, I hereby sentence them both to rigorous imprisonment.”
